Foteini Foteinaki is a multidisciplinary creator and educator, having delved into diverse creative paths throughout her career.

In her weaving practice, she explores themes of self/identity, interpersonal connections, and emotional landscapes using reclaimed yarns. She originally gravitated towards working with materials that were repurposed, found, or previously owned from a keen interest in the narratives embedded within objects. Discovering the widespread presence of weaving in familial histories, along with the abundance of yarn in households worldwide, she felt an immediate connection to a broader familial network. Coupled with her eco-conscious mindset, this led her to focus solely on using reclaimed fibers in her work.

Preferring to work intuitively and spontaneously, Foteini fully embraces experimentation, allowing the unique qualities of the reclaimed materials—such as their color palettes and fiber textures—to guide her creative process. Each material contributes to shaping the final artwork, carrying with it a tapestry of shared histories woven into every thread.

Foteini is a self-taught weaver. She has studied photography, animation, is a certified secondary A&D and media teacher, and holds an MA in art & design education from the UK. She has exhibited work as a weaver, animator and photographer in Europe and Brazil, and has been an art and media teacher for over 20 years.
